Shamim Salim is a Kenyan national. Shamim is a queer woman with disability, and human rights activist.Shamim has managed programs for the Church World Service, and Action Network for the Disabled and works to advance policies and structures that protect, promote and enhance the realization of civil and political rights for people marginalized by sexual and gender identity and disability.

Shamim holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Governance, Leadership and Elections from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations majoring in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs and a minor in Criminal Justice systems from the United States International University - Africa (USIU - A). Shamim is a speaker on various issues including at the High-Level Youth Policy Dialogue on SDGs at UN Habitat.
