OUR

WAYS

SEXUAL AND GENDER DIVERSITY, OUTRAGE AND LOVE

Our outrage and love compels audacious, courageous and transformative work. Our outrage and love fuels our movements’ souls and spirits. In honouring our diversity and pride in our identities, we have put in place processes that allow us to learn everyday, to ask questions, grow in knowledge and participate in the growth of our communities.

HEALTH, SUPPORT, ACCESSIBILITY, RADICAL THOUGHT

Health rights is a key pillar of our work. Many of our health needs are not addressed by our healthcare system. We are committed to taking risks that enable flexible and accessible support to affirm our human dignity.

RIGHTS, EQUALITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE, EXCELLENCE

Sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics are an essential part of being human. But for our communities, these aspects of their existence are used to criminalise them. Societies discriminate against them for these aspects of being human. Work makes our existence dignified but for people whose work is sex work this is not the case in our region of work. UHAI demands equality for all and also works to bridge the socio-economic disparities that are the result of these laws and societal norms as well as working for community advancement and wellbeing that is only attainable with upholding of human rights and social justice. We challenge conventions to build new ways of organising, working and living.

RIGHTS, EQUALITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE, EXCELLENCE

Our communities traditionally silenced by power structures are their own change agents through their lived experience and individual contributions. Listening is a political act at UHAI. We listen to emerging patterns and power dynamics, to silenced, inaudible and often unheard voices. We will listen respectfully to all human life and the diversity that is reflected in society.
