Imarisha Grants in response to feedback from our grantee partners that, while many funders could support activities, few funders were willing to support the core and operational costs of the work of organisations. These grants are purely for core support to the organisation, to cover expenditures such as salaries and overheads, strategic planning, etc. For more information on eligibility and application requirements for this grant please click this link (insert link to allow downloading of the Imarisha Proposal guideline). Opportunity and Strategic and Capacity Support Grants

These grants are accessible throughout the year and are more flexible in amount and duration. Opportunity, strategic and capacity support grants are considered by the Secretariat Grants Committee [SGC] that is composed of UHAI EASHRI staff, and approved by the UHAI EASHRI Executive Co-Directors. Organisations may request for Opportunity, Strategic and Capacity Support Grants, and UHAI may invite requests as well.

Types of grants available throughout the calendar year:

  1. Strategic Grants

Strategic grants are targeted, non-competitive grants that establish partnerships with institutions in support of work that is larger in context and impact than would be possible through the Peer Grants process. Strategic grants are flexible in amount and duration. Click here to apply for a strategic grant.

  1. Opportunity Grants

Opportunity Grants provide emergency assistance for security, protection, urgent advocacy and litigation, and other immediate events that may not be expected in an organisation’s work-plan. These are not direct assistance grants for individuals because we do not support individuals; but we support organisations that may in turn support individuals. Click here to apply for an opportunity grant.

  1. Capacity Support Grants (upto USD 5,000)

Capacity Support Grants provide resources for but not limited to skills development in leadership, organising and tailor-made institutional development needs to strengthen systems, structures and processes towards technical capacities such as institutional development, Board or Staff development, and non-technical capacities such as peer learning and networking. Capacity Support grants are also  made all year round and are flexible in duration but have an upper limit of USD 5,000. Click here to apply for a capacity support grant.
