UHAI makes 1 of every 6 sexual and gender minorities grants globally, and is the world’s 9th largest funder of sex worker rights.
Your investment ensures sexual and gender minorities and sex worker communities across Eastern Africa are supported to sustain the fight for a world in which all people live equally and in dignity.
UHAI provides Eastern Africa’s sexual and gender minorities and sex worker communities flexible funding and responsive capacity support, and supports research, Pan-African engagements and convening. By engaging local activists to determine our grant making, our approach to social change ensures that those living the struggles have agency to fund action.
UHAI is Africa’s first and largest fund of its kind supporting African sexual and gender minorities and sex worker rights. We support civil society organising in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda and in 2017 we introduced support to Democratic Republic of Congo.
Join the movement for the fight for equality in Eastern Africa by sustaining UHAI with monthly donations. Your investment ensures Eastern Africa sexual and gender minorities and sex worker communities receive the support they need to cultivate resilience and affect social change.
